SERVICING & MAINTENANCE OF EXISTING SYSTEMS AND WHYTE COMPATIBILITY

Servicing and Maintenance of Existing Systems and Whyte Compatibility!
IRS Service Engineers always face the task of isolating the system fault and
then, if necessary, sourcing a suitable replacement part and getting the
system up and running in as short a time as possible. Property managers
always insist on speed and cost effectiveness.
The Whyte series 5 range is flexible and compatible with any IRS System
brands that are line powered via the Horizontal IF inputs. In situations
where the existing IRS System provides line power via different IF inputs,
then this can be reconfigured by using a series of DC injectors to isolate
and re-direct the power. It is therefore a good idea to keep a stock of these
in your van!
An alternative and possibly simpler method would be to isolate all IF
inputs using DC injectors or isolators and power the multiswitch using a
Whyte WPSU-1A power supply unit. But lets not go too deeply in to this
subject and save that for another article!

HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF AN ISSUE A SERVICE ENGINEER FACED
As you can see, like many IRS Systems, it is a mixture of many brands.
After diagnosis, he found that the Launch amplifier, Power supply and one
of the 12-way switches needed replacing. As he had a range of Whyte Series
5 products in his van (and time was of the essence) he called to ask if we could
advise and duly sent us this picture. The fact that power passes on the
Horizontal lines of the Whyte Series 5 range meant that this was directly
compatible with the brand that was currently installed. All items were easily
swapped over with no fuss or additional modifications needed. The old
equipment was removed and the replacement Whyte series 5 products were
installed in place. To the residents (and their children’s) relief the system was
back up and running in no time and peace restored to every house hold in this
development.
